Personally, I was a bit surprised when I saw Judy Ann doing an infomercial for Meralco. Surprising that such an actress with a generally likeable and “masa” image have gone and made a commercial defending an indefensible issue. Idefensible given the fact that almost all Filipinos are on watch and slowly simmering, waiting if this hoopla about Meralco’s alleged overcharging ever bears fruit and we all can get refunds from our bills. And now they put a face for all Filipinos to identify and channel this irritation, this anger for being “overcharged” by Meralco. It is the innocent face of Juday, unfortunately.

When I saw her in the infomercials, the thoughts going through my mind : “Everyone has a price”… “Juday is going to get it from the Pinoys… too bad, tsk..” Sorry for being somewhat “judgmental”, Juday.

For can one help it if one thinks that Juday has been paid a hefty fee for doing this commercial on something so hot an issue? Did she realize that she is going against most Filipinos’ natural tendency to go refute everything Meralco says on the issue since they (the Filipinos) are suffering stakeholders in the grand (Meralco) scheme of things?

I heard Juday is “devastated” by all the negative reaction from the masses. Did she expect less? Was she coaxed, forced or threatened to do this commercial? Did she think that her popularity can really help diffuse the Pinoys’ demand for transparency (and if possible, refund) from Meralco, without her being lumped together with the company? I am not angry or anything here. I have an inkling that she has been convinced and/or used to do the commercial, without benefit of good advice and sufficient time to think everything over. Hey, this is not a matter of endorsing a brand of shampoo, slimming capsules, nor a set of plastic wares. Not by a long shot..

Pity. I truly admired her, her wholesome “masa” image, and with the latest good film Ploning… tsk, tsk…  But nonetheless, for you Juday, remember that this, too, shall pass… Cheer up, face up and defend yourself if need be. Move on and be wiser for the experience.

Now, on the matter of Meralco. It is a good thing that I, myself, is yet incapable of generating my own electricity to power up all the appliances that we have, including this laptop, the dsl modem, the tv, ref, stereo, so on…. For if only I can generate my own (or if I can go back to prehistoric times where electricity is yet to be discovered), siguro nagpaputol na ko ng kuryente. But until then, I must retain your “services” :(

From the inquirer , this is a good story on certain efforts to address malnutrition and hunger. I also caught a news bite of this on TV today.

Nutrimeal is a combination of vegetables and grains, mixed together, dried and ground/powdered.

Reyes said that Nutrimeal has been approved by the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) and its ingredients include rice, mongo beans, carrots, sesame seeds, and horse radish. Protein, carbohydrates, and beta carotene are the nutrients derived from these ingredients, she added.

“Vegetables are peeled, sliced, and dried in the solar panels and were brought to the kitchen where they may be ground, diced, or shredded according to the needs of the products. The processed rice and beans are then stored in the bins and packed,” Reyes said.

I hope this works and becomes available to many people.

I took my love, I took it down

I climbed a mountain and I turned around

And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills

’til the landslide brought it down

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?

Can the child within my heart rise above?

Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?

Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Well, I’ve been afraid of changing cause i’ve

Built my life around you

But time makes you bolder

Even children get older

And I’m getting older, too

Well, I’ve been afraid of changing cause i’ve

Built my life around you

Time makes you bolder

Even children get older

And I’m getting older, too

I get older, too

I took my love and took it down

I climbed a mountain, I turned around

And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills

The landslide brought it down

The landslide brought it down

Wow!

I am talking only about those involved in this conduct of taking pictures and video while they are doing a rectal operation on a man who has a canister of body spray shoved up his a_s. I am not referring to ALL doctors and nurses. So dont take offense, those who are not involved in this, k? Haller?

We actually trust these people when we are having operations, giving birth, having physical examination and the works where we expose ourselves thinking that they will conduct themselves appropriately. They are professionals, hirap ng pinagdaaanan nila para makapag-aral at magka-lisensya. In just one act like this… goes to show that intelligence does not equal common sense and knowing the proper way of respecting human dignity. Then comes this case. Very interesting, ika nga. Tapos i-upload sa you tube! Brilliant!!!!

My suggestions:

1. The licensing body for doctors and nurses should investigate this. This violates their oath, and also basic human rights. They must be severely reprimanded.

2. Camera phones should not be allowed inside the operating or examination room, if the patient or his/her family did not give permission to do so. Much better siguro kung wala na talagang i-allow na cam phones/vid cams na hawak ng mga doctor and nurses. That is also too unsanitary, if you ask me.

3. The hospital administration must rethink if they would like to retain these as employees in their hospital. Could you imagine some 10 or more people in the operating room, when we all know that this not much of a major operation? Those who have no business being there mean that they are not doing their job elsewhere. Negligence, loitering or abandonment of work kaya yun?

4. May karapatang magdemanda ang patient. Invasion of privacy at violation ng doctor-patient privilege.

This is just my opinion. The nerve of those who took the vids and posted them sa internet. Do you think you are immune to public outrage? Dahil sa tingin nyo, may mageenjoy sa mga candid videos nyo depicting a man having rectal operation because of whatever reason? Only sick people would enjoy that, I think. and with this kind of sickness (enjoying others’ discomfort or embarassment), wala pang cure dyan.
This should be a lesson for all of us. I will be a patient more times the rest of my life. Sana di ako maka-encounter ng mga katulad nila, because I respect and trust the doctors and nurses who have treated or cared for me before. Tandaan nyo yan.

by Paulo Coelho
Nixivan had invited his friends to supper and was cooking a succulent piece of meat for them. Suddenly, he realised that he had run out of salt.

So Nixivan called to his son.

“Go to the village and buy some salt, but pay a fair price for it: neither too much nor too little.’
His son was surprised.

‘I can understand why I shouldn’t pay too much for it, Father, but if I can bargain them down, why not save a bit of money?’

‘That would be the sensible thing to do in a big city, but it could destroy a small village like ours.’
When Nixivan’s guests, who had overheard their conversation, wanted to know why they should not buy salt more cheaply if they could, Nixivan replied:

‘The only reason a man would sell salt more cheaply than usual would be because he was desperate for money. And anyone who took advantage of that situation would be showing a lack of respect for the sweat and struggle of the man who laboured to produce it.’

‘But such a small thing couldn’t possibly destroy a village.’

‘In the beginning, there was only a small amount of injustice abroad in the world, but everyone who came afterwards added their portion, always thinking that it was only very small and unimportant, and look where we have ended up today.’

blackberry-curve-8320.gifFinally!!!

I am able to install an ebook reader for my Blackberry phone! I have been thinking of ways to make my book (ebook and paper) reading more accessible and hassle-free. Only thinking, because for one reason or another, I did not even search for one in the internet!

Until an acquaintance suggested MOBIPOCKET! You get to download for free an ebook desktop manager and a Blackberry ebook reader. And whoa! You can now download and upload ebooks in pdf, txt, word and other supported file types to your BB.

Now, I can read my books on the go, waiting in line, riding a car, even in the dark :)

How cool is that? :)

Nope, this is not going to be a post of ridicule. You have had enough of that already. Tama na!

Look at the bright side:

  1. You are now an instant celebrity
  2. Your videos are among the most watched vids in Youtube. (no kidding!!)
  3. You already have a captured audience once you battle it out for the Miss World title. You can use this as an opportunity to show ‘em your stuff. Minus the wrong grammers, errrr…., grammar. (it is not so bad to have wrong grammar!)
  4. In spite of almost everyone saying that you are a disgrace , think about this : When you are in the Ms. World pageant, I am sure that more than 50% of those who ridiculed you will be rooting for you. If there is internet voting, we will vote for you!!!
  5. You are still young. At age 17, you are allowed a few mistakes here and there. Some young people your age are making worst mistakes than speaking poor English.
  6. We, Filipinas are not perfect. But we can decide and do our best to improve ourselves. Show them that you are a true Filipina : able to accept criticisms and willing to improve your self.

Perspective lang… Improve yourself… then show ‘em!
